Interesting scriptures in this lesson are the reference to the Church of the Firstborn, as well as warnings not to leave the body of the Saints lest we lose the faith through being led astray.

New Testament Gospel Doctrine Lesson 37: Hebrews

This lesson is meant to be a discussion of our Faith in Christ, why he had to take on mortal flesh, and why the law of Moses could not provide salvation. Avoid lecturing, and instead ask questions of the class.

Why did Jesus Christ become mortal?
Heb 2:5-8 mortal men are a little lower than the angels, who have dominion over the next world
Heb 2:9 Jesus tasted of death for every man
Heb 2:14-15 The death of Christ allowed him to destroy the power of death
Heb 2:17-18 Christ in being mortal and tempted is better able to give comfort

Heb 4:2 Same gospel preached, but who benefits? Those with faith.
Heb 4:9-10 Enter into God's rest and cease from your own work.
Heb 5:4 No man receives the priesthood if he is not called of God.
Heb 6:4-6 Those tasted the heavenly gift and fall away cannot be redeemed.
Heb 6:7 Earth with be cleansed with fire.

The old covenant was the Law of Moses. The new covenant is with Jesus unto salvation.
Heb 7:11 Salvation is greater than the Aaronic priesthood
Heb 7:12 The priesthood line was changed, therefore, so was the law.
Heb 7:25-26 Levitical priests offered sacrifices first for their own sins. Christ had no sins.
Heb 8:10-11 Under the new covenant, everyone will know the gospel
Heb 9:9-10 How does a person cleanse their conscience?

Faith
Heb 11:1 Definition of Faith
Heb 11:3 Worlds created by faith
Heb 11:6 Cannot please God without faith
Heb 12:6 God chastens those he loves, as does a father
Heb 12:11 Correction/Instruction isn't joyful while it is happening, but we enjoy the fruits of it.
Heb 12:22-23 The Church of the Firstborn
Heb 12:26-27 The shaking of Earth and Heaven to remove that which can be shaken, leaving only that which cannot be shaken.

Heb 1 Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten, above all the angels, and more everlasting than the Earth.
Heb 2 The Hebrews were expecting their Savior to be as powerful as the angels. Paul is here explaining why Jesus came in the flesh
Heb 3 The Hebrews who died in the wilderness died because of unbelief.
Heb 4 The gospel of Jesus was offered to ancient Israel and they rejected it.
Heb 5 The Hebrews should already know the scriptures, but Paul explains to them again, calling them babes, having need for someone to teach them when they should already be strong.
Heb 7 Jesus wasn't a Levite, but held the Melchezidec priesthood, which Melchezidec was not even of the lineage of Abraham
Heb 8-10 High Priests must offer a sacrifice of blood to enter the Holy of Holies. Jesus offered His own blood.
Heb 11 Lecture on Faith; Examples of Faith through history
