What is Pure Religion?
...Define Pure....... not mixed or adulterated with any other substance or material.
wholesome and untainted by immorality, especially that of a sexual nature.
...Define Religion. the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
......a particular system of faith and worship.
......a pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance.
Definition of our religion:
.....Enduring affliction (to the end).....1:2-4
.....Pray to God in Faith.....1:5-8
.....Control our tongues (be slow to wrath)
..........Wrath vs. Anger?..... Wrath is extreme anger.... 1:19-21
..........Read 3:2................... Control your Tongue and you have mastered yourself
..........Read 3:3-4 or more, for examples of how a few words can destroy or change our course

1:2-4..... Trials of faith give us patience
1:5-8..... Ask for wisdom, but have no doubts or hesitations
1:9-11... The low should rejoice in being raised up, the rich to rejoice in being made low
1:10-16. God does not tempt man, but temptation comes from lust
1:17-18. Everything good comes from God
1:19-21. The wrath of man is never righteous
1:22-26. Live your religion and control your tongue
1:27...... Definition of Pure Religion
2:1-4..... All men are equal before God; we must be impartial in our religion
2:5-9..... God usually values the poor more than the rich
2:10-13. Those who judge without mercy shall have none themselves
2:14-20. Faith without works is dead (sin)
2:21-24. Example of Abraham's works
2:25-26. Example of Rahab's works
3:1........ Don't fight over who is the master of knowledge
3:2-18... The tongue can be poisonous. Master your tongue, and you have mastered yourself
4:1-3..... War comes from lusts (pleasures, passions, self-gratification)
4:4........ A Friend of the world is an Enemy to God
4:5-10... Humble yourself and God will lift you up
4:11-12. Speak not poorly of each other
4:13-15. The will of God is our guide
4:16-17. Knowing and not doing is sin (2:14-20)
5:1-3..... The rich who love money are condemned
5:4-6..... Sins of the rich enumerated
5:7-11... Be patient in suffering
5:12...... Yes is yes, no is no
5:13-15. The sick are healed by laying on of hands and prayer of faith
5:16...... The sick of heart are healed by prayer of the faithful
5:17-18. Elias controlled the rain through prayer
5:19-20. Change someone for the better, and hide a multitude of sins
