There are many aspects of the plan of Salvation which are not at face value 'fair'. Such as some people being born into the Covenant while others lived at a time when the gospel was not on the Earth. Thankfully, God is a God of perfect Justice tempered with Mercy. We will be judged according to that which we received, whether it be born into the Covenant or having 7000 years for the duration of our probation.

Another point to note here is the last war. There won't be anyone left on the side-lines. Whatever state a soul may be in when entering the final struggle at the end of the millennium of peace, everyone will choose a side and take actions which will define their eternal state. This will be the final battle to win as many souls as God is able to. God would not force us to end our probationary period prior to this final struggle if we did not already know the outcome would be in our favor.

Good point that I hadn't thought of. I will start a new thread in the LDS Doctrine forum about what kind of battle this will be. It occurred to me that everyone in this final battle will be resurrected and so can't die. What kind of war can be found against 2 armies that can't die?
