To me, agency involves choice and consequence.
The Father's plan (hugely oversimplified):
- Choose good, get good consequences
- Choose bad, get bad consequences
One way to see Lucifer's plan is:
- Forced to choose good, get good consequences
However, to me, it would seem like the carnal, natural man is very resistant to being forced. (Some may accuse the Church of following this plan!)
To me, Lucifer's plan would be more appealing to the carnal mind if it were this:
- Choose anything, get good consequences ("Under the Father's plan, some of us will be lost! Lucifer, as God, is unconditionally loving, merciful, and tolerant. So under this plan, we won't force you to do anything. So choose whatever you want, Lucifer will pay the price, and you will be forgiven. In fact, since we guarantee your forgiveness and automatic salvation, you cannot do anything truly wrong, in the eternal sense. So why do we even need words like 'evil' and 'sin' in our vocabulary? Let's not label anyone or anything with such negative, intolerant words.")
