I would recommend that you read Cleon Skousen's book: The Cleansing of America. He wrote this book before his death, but told his children not to publish it until the financial crises should come. They published it in 2010. [As a side note, the financial crises may be just beginning].

He predicts that after the financial crises [or as a result of it], there will be a major plague which will wipe out all the evil people in the U.S., including the whole government structure. Those who survive will flea to Zion for refuge from the desolation. A new government based on a more Constitutional law, but with more localized leadership will be formed, in preparation for living a consecrated way of life, a Millennial way of life. He says that the Western Hemisphere will become isolated from the rest of the world by raging seas. Then the lost ten tribes will come to Zion, bearing great wealth with which to decorate the New Jerusalem.

He believes that, in the mean time, Russia will systematically start conquering the world. When the ten tribes come down from the north, Russia will try to intercept them, but because of their superior power, Russia will be repelled. He claims that the raging seas will keep Russia from attacking the U.S..Eventually, Russia and the rest of the world will attack Israel, setting up for the Savior to save Jerusalem in a dramatic fashion.

I have read his book twice. I have a hard time buying into the whole scenario, but I do believe that there will be a big plague which will be quite devastating to our country. I believe it will be in fulfillment of Isaiah 3:

16¶Moreover the Lord saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:

17Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts.

18In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,

19The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,

20The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,

21The rings, and nose jewels,

22The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,

23The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.

24And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of ca stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.

25Thy amen shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.

26And her agates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.

This prophecy does state that the men will fall by the sword, implying that the plague will come during war time, whether on this land or elsewhere.

After-wards, Isaiah make the following prophesy in Isaiah 4:

1And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

2In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.

3And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:

4When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.

This is the good news, that after the terrible war and plague, the branch of the Lord will be beautiful. This fits with Skousen's theory, except he doesn't show us getting into a war, as I recall.

I hope this is helpful
