Thank you for sharing. I have know people who have had simple spiritual confirmations and written in their journals about the experience only to read them years later and realize that they had received their promise. The difficultly is that having it and knowing you have it are very different things.
When people look beyond the mark toward the loud and outwardly obvious mile markers, they often miss the quiet divine eloquence of the still small voice. I have a friend who was told by the sealer at his wedding that, "You have just been sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise". I was shocked that the sealer spoke so plainly and prophetically and the spirit was sooo strong but it was over my friends head. He didn't understand it and continued on without reflection. (I can't blame him, he just got sealed.
I have also seen where people are looking for a meeting with the prophet in a small room in the Salt Lake Temple. Even if they did receive the promise from the spirit, they would reject it because they reason that the spirit is not authorized to make such promises. And only the prophet can do it.
My personal belief is that what the spirit says, God says. And what God says is the final say.
