Moroni 10: 32 and 33
32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in HIM, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and IF ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect IN Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect IN Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.
33 And again, if ye by the grace of God are perfect IN Christ, and deny not his power, THEN are ye sanctified IN Christ by the grace of God, through the shedding of the blood of Christ, which is in the covenant of the Father unto the remission of your sins, that ye become holy, without spot.

Perfection IN Christ involves the proper application and reception of His gifts . . . in ENDOWMENT.

The initial gift that was received in the Pre-Mortal Endowment was the Light of Christ to all of those who accepted Father's Plan and the Savior's vicarious offering. Too, we, each, received our Patriarchal Blessing from the hands of Our Divine Parents, bequeathing unto us unique spiritual gifts. Those who wished to consecrate themselves in God's service received the Priesthood.

The Revelation of the Endowment is as follows:

The Light of Christ, (our conscience) which is a Pre-mortal Endowment, The Holy Ghost, a Mortal Endowment upon baptism by fire (justification by grace: spiritual re-birth to innocence and cleansing), The Spirit of Christ, (sanctification through the Sacrament by setting oneself apart and "remembering.") It is through this "reflection" that we initially learn about forgiveness, but later, it takes on a new role as we realize that in so doing we are inflicting the Savior with our pain. It is at this juncture that we learn how to Love HIM and seek to "raise the Sufferer up" and become more responsible - "when I was a child, I thought as a child," but now I am no longer a child. We culturally believe that the Sacrament is to wipe the slate clean every Sunday, but in reality and through abiding by the clauses of Sanctification (The Sacramental Prayers,) we learn about the true nature of LOVE and consecration. "We love Him because He first loved us." The more familiarity that we gain with His Spirit (Not the Holy Ghost,) the more we become like Him . . . we take something of Him within us at the encounter. The next endowment happens when we pierce the veil and receive not the Holy Spirit of Promise, but the Holy Spirit of Presence and we stand before Him. We will see Him when we are like Him. So, there are three stages: justification, sanctification and purification . . . and there is a great deal to say about these things . . . they are found in the scriptures and I include a brief synopsis with the following illustration:

In referencing the Three Degrees illustration, please note the following:

1.) Recognition, 2.) Association and 3.) Emulation - in other words and the "vernacular of light": absorb and comprehend, reflect and understand and finally, radiate and become. (The Sun radiates, the Moon reflects and the Stars are absorbed in the background of space.)

The very process of creation involves the application of the following principles:

1.) Comprehension: This is a recognition of contrast involving light and darkness. Of necessity, it involves the ability to compare in order to distinguish. It is of the MIND; involving perception
2.) Understanding: This is an association and experiencing of "like things" determining if they are appealing, harmonious, and resonant or repelling, dissonant, and uncomfortable. It is of the HEART; involving feeling.
3.) Realization: This is the act of making something created "spiritually" within, manifest in the real world. It involves the sum total of the previous two and what one is: mind, heart,and soul (body and spirit,) and is properly referred to as "all" your heart, might, mind and strength.

Concepts are created in the MIND, as the framework about which to build structure. The HEART adds detail to make that which is "sterile" into something desirable. The accumulation and cooperation of the "internal" is brought to fruition by exertion in the physical world; an execution of the "plan"

The mind operates via the "illumination" of light and the heart operates via the "comfort" of light. (The Compound of One.)

By virtue of symmetry; that of associating the first thing in one list with the first thing in another list, illustrates this principle in the following way:

Knowledge is gained by diligence. Intelligence is gained by obedience. Intelligence is the "proper" application of knowledge. Without "proper application," knowledge is useless, it is only theory. "To know and not to do is the same as not knowing."

During my interaction with a member of a group on Facebook, he mentioned something that became another "key" that was to be included in the previous illustration. I express my gratitude to this person . . . hopefully, he will come across this and realize who he is - and I am grateful to Heavenly Father in the way that He has placed "keys of knowledge" in various places so that by interaction, we can learn more truth.

The following evidence is given that there is a difference between the Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit - they are not the same thing in some instances:

The gift of the Holy Ghost is one thing, had through the ordinance of laying on of hands. The Holy Spirit is that which is received by another ordinance called the Sacrament.

Consider the following:

Who was the Angel who appeared to the Savior to strengthen Him?

Elder Bruce R. McConkie believed it to have been Michael, or Adam, the Ancient of Days and the father of the human family on this earth (Ensign, May 1985, 9).

And so the key is given. Adam is the "placeholder" for you and I, just as in the Endowment. It was in the Garden of Gethsemane that the Savior experienced "most" of the "Spiritual" pain. It is here, that we have opportunity to strengthen Him or burden Him. I would like you to consider that for a moment.

I have said in earlier portions of this post that during the Sacrament, we have an opportunity by virtue of our "childishness" to further burden and afflict the Savior with our misdeeds and utilize Him as our scapegoat. As we learn and progress, we learn about His consecrated love and suffering. In maturity, we learn to emulate His virtues and hasten to ease His suffering - especially on our count. We learn to "raise the sufferer up," not only Him but others, likewise. We become responsible.

And so, as "Adam," we can experience the "Temple" of Gethsemane - we can, either allow the Savior to take our name through as one to be succored or we can be of strength to Him in sharing His burden.

The ordinances were established before the foundation of the world and, as such, constituted the "symbolism" that would be utilized to convey to God, Angels and mankind, that compliance was had, whereby the predicated blessings could be given. The "covenant path" is immutable and qualifies as "absolute" when the covenants and ordinances do not change.

Pay particular attention to the "Timeline."

The endowment originated through revelation to Joseph Smith in 1842, with further revelation and restoration occurring in 1843.

In 1845, Brigham Young performs the endowment in the unfinished Nauvoo Temple subsequent to the Exodus. There is no written "text" or record to follow until it is written down in 1877. By this time, it is clear that there have been additions - including what is called the "Oath of Vengeance," wherein an oath is given to avenge the martyrdom of the Prophet Joseph Smith. Later, this very "Oath of Vengeance" would be the impetus for the Mountain Meadow's Massacre. Further additions to the endowment were meant to invoke fear and control over those who would participate - hence the "blood oath" penalties that were patterned after the oaths forbidden in the Book of Mormon in Ether 8. The Book of Mormon expressly tells us that there will be no more "blood atonement."

Further, because the "great and last sacrifice" is infinite and eternal - the need for more is finished.

Our "Telestial" depiction of JUSTICE is given as shown: a woman wearing a blind, holding a set of scales in her hand . . . and usually a sword in the other - denoting the potential execution of the penalty; punishment. The reason that "JUSTICE" is depicted as a woman, is because the basis of "measuring" require wisdom or "sophia" which is feminine. The blind depicts impartiality of sight, for judgement is to be done without respect of persons - be they well clothed or impoverished, familiar or foreign.

The purpose for this particular posting and ones that will be following have to do with the three progressive states that lead to perfection: justification, sanctification and purification. In order to be perfect; whole and complete, one must be innocent from sin and infraction of God's Laws, holy and set apart from Babylon; the world, by consecrating themselves to associate with Heaven and, finally, pure; free of dross and contamination as having gone through the Refiner's fire and purged of darkness. In particular, this treatise is on "justification" with many of its implications in our "carnal," fallen world.

Isn't it interesting that in the generation of "excuses," man is inclined to automatically "justify" themselves? Isn't it interesting that in this world, many seek for "validation?" It would seem that such is "hardwired" into the very fiber of our being. Inherently we know that we are accountable to someone. Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone realized who that Someone really was? Being "justified" is an integral part of finding joy and happiness in life. We are told in scripture that "wickedness was never happiness" and so, it only follows . . . .

The type of scale that is being used is a balance scale. It infers that some "standard" be employed on one side in comparison with that which is being "weighed" and measured on the other. Such comparisons are done in the reference frame of "gravity." It would be pointless to use such a device in the vacuum of space; extant of an absolute. So, in proceeding, that which is to be measured is not external to the object in question, but internal. The process is undertaken in the external reference frame of "natural" law to be witnessed by others so that certain conditions, have, in fact, been met. (The mere fact that "weighing" and "comparing" is had, in the first place, infers audience; witnesses.) The process of Justice, must, certainly, be Just, itself as judged by others. The very notion implies that Laws are known and established before the foundation of such endeavors.

There are three ways to be Justified:

1.) Commit no infraction of the Law being; therefore, on the level and not accountable for any infraction - this is innocence.
2.) Pay the prescribed penalty of the Law; therefore, restoring the weight of the balance in a quid pro quo - eye for an eye fashion.
3.) Allow a "vicarious" person who meets criteria number 1 in being innocent to pay the prescribed penalty of the Law provided that it is acceptable to the "Court" and Law Giver. In our case, this is Jesus the Christ, who qualifies on all counts. This condition allows the penalty to be paid, but subjects us to the conditions made upon us by the one paying the debt or demands of Justice. In the Gospel sense, this is called "Probation." The "immediate" debt to the Law is met; however, there is a contingency based upon our future behavior. This is known as Justification by Grace or Justification by Faith. More will be forthcoming.

It was difficult remaining seated in the Church pew, today, because I wanted to share my testimony; however, it was made apparent to me that I ought not - therefore, hopefully, I can share with you what transpired.

Many got up and bore testimony that they knew that God loves them. "I know that Jesus loves me . . . ," was spoken many times. At last, the Elder's Quorum President got up and mentioned how he counsels people and was learning what the Atonement meant in his personal life and how it can change a person. Then he said the key and when I heard it, I knew that his "remembrance" of the Savior was going to transition from Calgary - the place of the "Skull" to The Garden of Gethsemane - the place of the "Spirit." He said, "I love my Savior."

In bringing our sins to the foot of the Cross and allowing the Savior to rescue us with His "love," we are, yet, in our infancy - loving Him because He loves us. Upon receiving and being confident of His love for us by being there for us, His Spirit coupled with our other endowments, teaches us a genuine concern for His welfare. When we finish weeping for ourselves and our own welfare; when we realize how much He loves us, in maturity, our focus will change to Him.

The utterance from the Cross at Golgotha:

The utterance from the Garden of Gethsemane:

An exchange takes place in the "sanctification" moments of remembrance with the focus changing from ourselves to Him; from the Cross to the Garden.

It is in this way . . . the Last becoming the First . . . the Omega becoming the "Alpha" . . . that proper "order" is attained and we are in alignment with His will:

Now, coming "full circle" and tying the "loop," as it where:

He who LOVES the Savior will keep the commandments for HIM and not just for Themselves. The focus will change and infinite power will be gained by casting one's gaze, not upon themselves, but upon God.

Another point that ought to be made is given in verse 18, above. "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you."

In the Garden, at a distance of about a "stone's throw" away, the Savior fell comfortless and in duress. The Chief Apostles were asleep.

And, today, there are many who sleep, who do not understand. Yet, in this "singularity" of scripture, it is pointed out that an angel appeared unto Him, strengthening Him; giving Him comfort. As a disciple of Jesus Christ, I would extend to you an invitation to pierce the veil with your thoughts and visit the Temple of Gethsemane, casting your gaze upon this lonely scene and extend your "spiritual" comfort to Him who physically received none. Please don't leave Him, the Greatest of All, comfortless in His time of despair.

I have said, earlier, that physical pain passes; however, "spiritual" pain does not, necessarily. There is a longing, still, for those who are asleep to awaken. The Heaven's still weep from time to time. Hopefully, it isn't for you.

Justification is done by recognition. It is done at the foot of the cross. We are told that every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is the Christ; the Holy, Anointed One and that His judgments are just. This is not by compulsion. It happens when an intelligence recognizes that a great injustice has been done. It happens when the "light" dawns and the uttermost farthing has been paid. It is the prerequisite for mortality to put on immortality; resurrection. It is at this point that innocence is renewed.

The subsequent process is that of Sanctification. It belongs to the Terrestrial realm and happens when one recognizes Holiness and Goodness and is drawn to it with a yearning of "association." It happens when one "sets themselves apart" from "worldly things" and Babylon. It is in this "step-wise process:" one step closer to one another, that progression is realized. You clothe yourself "spiritually" by taking initiative and God responds by clothing you "spiritually" by adding "endowments, tender mercies, and LIGHT." Partaking of the Sacrament is a primary source of this "sanctification" process, of which more shall be shared at another time.

The following is an account of a dream/visit to the Garden by Orson Whitney that he had about 1876:

"I thought I was in the garden of Gethsemane, a witness of the Savior's agony. I seemed to be standing behind a tree in the foreground of the picture, from which point I could see without being seen. The Savior, with the Apostles Peter, James and John, entered the garden through a little wicket gate at my right, where he stationed them in a group, telling them to pray. He then passed over to my left, but still in front of me, where he knelt and prayed also. His face, which was towards me, streamed with tears, as he besought the Father to let the cup pass, and added, 'not my will but thine be done.' Having finished his prayer, he arose and crossed to where the Apostles were kneeling fast asleep. He shook them gently, they awoke and he reproved them for their apathy. Again he bade them pray, and again crossed to his place and prayed, returning as before to find them sleeping. To what end, Sanctification?

In order to understand what something is "set apart" for, it is important to review the specified words that are used to do so. Of course we are referencing the blessing of the emblems of the Sacrament. I am sure that you have heard these "set" prayers many times and have them committed to memory, but you may not really realize or comprehend what is being said. We will review.

The Blessing of the Bread:

77 O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it, that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son, and witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of thy Son, and always remember him and keep his commandments which he has given them; that they may always have his Spirit to be with them. Amen.
The bread represents the "flesh" and this emblem is blessed and sanctified "conditionally" depending upon the agency of that individual who partakes of it. Sanctification of this emblem is conditioned upon remembering Christ's broken body and having a "willingness" to take upon oneself the name of Christ and to keep his commandments with the conditional intent of receiving His Spirit to always be present.

The Blessing of the Wine (Water:)

The water (wine) represents the "blood" and this emblem is blessed and sanctified "conditionally" depending upon the agency of the individual who partakes of it. Sanctification of this emblem is conditioned upon remembering Christ's shed blood and desiring to witness to the Father that you do, in fact, always remember Christ's sacrifice with the conditional intent of receiving His Spirit's constant companionship.

True to the nature of covenants, there are conditions . . . if you do this, then this will happen. It follows that if you don't, then it won't. How often in our Sacrament meetings do we witness "real intent" in our charge of "remembering the Savior?" Well, if we don't do our part, we have no claim to the power of Sanctification by Grace and all is for naught; not; knot.

Without the "flesh and blood" emblems of Christ, taken within properly with real intent, how can we ever claim to be of His flesh and blood? There is no power of adoption if we do not partake or if we do not comply with the conditions of Sanctification. His "Spiritual" companionship will not occur and we will not be mentored in LOVE. If we will clothe ourselves in sanctification, we will be clothed and sanctified.

Stated again in another vernacular, if we will set ourselves apart for a Holy purpose, God will set us apart and make us Holy.

The next topic will be "Purification," what it means and how it is obtained.

We shall now begin to speak about "Purification." It has to do with "exposure" to the Endowments: The Light of Christ, The Holy Ghost, and the Spirit of Christ; it has to do with "associations" that bring about "emulations."

Change in awareness; consciousness is an internal process. It doesn't happen from the "outside ==> in," but from the "inside ==> out." It is for this reason that the "Outward," Mosaic Law was a lesser covenant. Christ came and would have us "internalize" those Laws. Perfection, being defined outwardly by example and internalized by the Light of Christ, provides the "reference" for the "balancing of the scales" of Justification. When we are "internally" justified, we are not subject to the chaos of accusation; guilt and/or the chaos of condemnation; shame - the first being of the mind (thoughts) and the second being of the heart (emotions.) By learning that "Judgment is meant for identification and not condemnation," we can uncouple the subjective damage of misdirected emotion and focus on the objective rather than concealment. Enlightenment allows us to step forward and be responsible, ready to learn how to overcome by FAITH.

And so what is to be learned? The Kingdom of God has to be established within a person before it can be established "outside." Zion, as "purity of heart" has to be established within a person before it can be established "outside." It has everything to do with increased exposure to the "Light" and to the "Spirit" of Christ for enlightenment and nurturing. It has everything to do with exposure to the Holy Ghost and "pure knowledge and intelligence." It has everything to do with the eventuality of "finding" and "going" to the Source of such, rather than downstream where the pure waters of Truth from the Fountain may be muddied.

Justification, Sanctification and Purification - innocence, holiness and purity - are processes that must be maintained. King Benjamin spoke as to how to always retain a remission of your sins . . . it is included:

In the thread, "The Pre-Mortal Council in Heaven's Agenda," the Pre-Mortal Endowments were initially discussed. I would recommend a review of that thread prior to proceeding in order to gain understanding.

We are going to identify the "Fountain of All Righteousness" from a very familiar scripture:

27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.
28 Behold, I will show unto the Gentiles their weakness, and I will show unto them that faith, hope and charity bringeth unto me--the fountain of all righteousness.
An acceptable offering before the Lord of a "broken heart" and "contrite spirit" is born out of the realization, as King Benjamin taught, of our own nothingness before God. It is for this reason that we encounter, from time to time, in scripture things like the following:

We have every reason to retain a remission of our sins with the sacrifice of a broken heart and a contrite spirit for our own nothingness before the Almighty. So lets examine the merits of the "Fountain of All Righteousness."

An examination of this "continual, upward spiral" will reveal that it is a never-ending "round." By utilizing the proper perspective and motivations to move forward; improve and progress - we become like God and emulate Him in His course. We know that we have perfected a principle when it can be shared in "consecrated empathy" and "service;" (LOVE/CHARITY) with another. We have perfected that thing. Then it is on to the next, according to God's wisdom. It should be noted that it is foolish to compare our progression with someone else because we aren't given the same "sequence, gifts, or circumstances." Our progression is "custom tailored" to who we are and what our "wholeness and completion" entails. It is as if we are given a puzzle of the very same picture; however, the pieces are not cut the same; they aren't interchangeable and we have to do it for ourselves. The "combination" and the "sequence," (spatial and temporal dimensions) are different.

Please note that in the following graphic, Intellectual refers to MIND and Emotional refers to HEART - thought and feeling. It shows the comparison of opposites. It is my hope that you will benefit from the realization of introspection, where you are and what needs attention.
