"Gethsemane"
In the empty fulness of time and space,
The Mount of Olives would be the place
Where the crushing weight of great duress,
Would Him bear down - an Olive press.
Underneath an unfathomable load
That prior centuries had foretold,
He suffered there, infinitely more
Than His body would have in store.
Physical pain can have an end,
But what's inside, a heart to rend,
Must be endured as the cost
Of emotional investments being lost.
Tears in Heaven, Parent's sight to blur,
Elicit a pain that is infinitely pure.
'Tis born of love and desire to hold
To return, restore, the peace of the "fold."
Having thrown Himself upon the ground,
What next transpired was in sound:
"Father," He said, "if it possible be,
Remove this bitter cup from me."
"Yet, if Thou wilt, I'll drink it dry,
Doing Thy will, instead of my."
Unfathomable agony arose within
As He grappled with other's sin.
Great distress produced the pain;
Bloody droplets fell like rain.
Sweat beaded upon His wrinkled brow,
Infinite time converged on "NOW."
Encompassing every pain and thought,
Of "creation's" misery that's wrought.
He endured ere long, there, alone
Distanced only, a throw of a stone.
"I must endure the presence of a few caterpillars if I wish to become acquainted with the butterflies."
