The Savior has commanded us that we are to "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" Remember in Doug's book the general authority (can't think of his name right now ) had the experience of casting out the possessed missionary? He loved him. He wrapped his arms around that missionary and loved him. Light and darkness cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Wasn't it Alma the elders beseeching to Our Father that led the angel to his wayward son which changed the course of the eternities for many generations of Lamanites? i think we underestimate our capacities and The Lord is strriving to bring our attention to it, what we can action for good. Honestly seek to love him and your light will chase that darkness out of him. It may not be easy or immediate, but it is an immutable, eternal principle that our righteous efforts will bless the lives of our loved ones.
