Several years ago I read an article on Obtaining one's calling and election. I discussed the topic with the one who shared the article with me. The conclusion I reached on that day was not to judge myself too harshly, or I would not receive this gift even if God was ready to give it.

The next year I spent in solemn prayer, asking God for this gift. The spirit told me I had already received it. This was later affirmed shortly after my first wife passed away. Speaking to me through the gaping holes in the veil, she showed me how important our Celestial Marriage was. I was left with a clear understanding at that moment that nothing else she had done in her life was nearly as important as maintaining our covenant of the Celestial Marriage.

Only recently have I unlocked the past memories which were hidden from me about the day I received this gift. At a young age an angel escorted me to the Celestial Kingdom where I was able to enjoy some time with Jesus. I made covenants on that day which I could not break if I tried. I was also ordained to the calling which I have in this life.

For about 20 years the memory of that glorious vision was hidden from my conscious mind. I could remember it when I slept. I could remember it when I left my body behind to do the Lord's work. But it has only been very recently that the experiences of that day have been restored to my waking memory. I saw Jesus face to face. My life was changed on that day and I have been preparing for events which I now see have already come to pass.

I have been feeling very much this way as of late. Like the spirit is whispering to me to slow down. I feel that the spirit will soon bring these things to my memory when I am ready. I have a restless soul and I have trouble resonating at Heavens frequency but I have resolved to try harder to do so.

Thank you for sharing your experience, I'm learning so much and I am so grateful for it all.

Thanks for sharing this Dragon. It had never even occurred to me that one might receive their c&e and have the memory taken away for a while. Do you know why the memory needed to be taken from you? I wonder for what purpose the Lord would do it this way? I hope I don't seem as if I am doubting your story because I don't AT ALL. I just wonder why the Lord sometimes does things this way?

At the time of the experience, I was experimenting with spirituality. That is to say, I believed strongly enough to separate my spirit from my body at will, without any idea how dangerous it can be. It is for this cause the angel came, so that I might discuss things with Jesus in the Celestial Kingdom. There were other things which my spirit tells me I can do, but the time for such things has not yet come. Thus, I swore with an oath I cannot break not to do those things which were dangerous for me.

What's more, being only 12 years old, I can imagine it would have caused a problem if a 12 year old started telling people he had seen the Savior. Sure, we all know Joseph Smith saw Him at 14, and Nephi about the same age, as well as Mormon, Jacob (the brother of Nephi), etc... but the Church Culture still frowns on such things. Kind of weird, I know. I had enough knowledge I was left with to guide me on the path until I needed to know more. I was given the gift of the Second Comforter without understanding how special it really is. So, while I enjoyed some of the blessings of the C&E, I could not recall the experience in my youth.

As a side note, when I was 24 I saw a vision of the rest of my life. I used it to guide my life to a new path. The vision was once more clouded from my mind, so I could enjoy those next six years. It would be a horrible thing to marry someone, knowing they would not live much longer. I thank God for not letting me remember that vision until after the death of my first wife.
