One way to sum up this chapter is: Once you have your calling and election made sure, all previous laws and covenants are superseded by the new covenant, which is simply to live according to the spirit.
This is a dangerous doctrine which many are not ready to accept. It is possible a false doctrine or aspect of the culture is contrary to the guidance of the Spirit. This would be an extremely rare occurrence (we hope). But there is a possibility of losing favor with the church in order to maintain favor with God. This could only come about because the church is run by imperfect men, most of which do not have their calling and election made sure. One could hope an appeal of the case to the highest authority in the church would correct any such misunderstanding. But then, as we said, this would not be the case unless you already had completed your probationary state.
